In Albedo (Lithuania):
Ieva Marija Baranauskaitė – voc, keyb
Formed in 2011, the Trio appeared in VOLT, an international festival in Hungary.
Music for the group’s members is a certain alchemy and search for balance in an attempt to combine something that is not combinable, and separate something that is not separable. For them the act of creation is akin to the path that is walked with shoes filled with lead towards the horizon glistering in gold. It is not accidentally that the musicians chose to call the group albedo, which denotes the phase of alchemic transformation and purification. While In albedo means towards the whiteness and light.
The Trio will perform Ieva Marija Baranauskaitė’s composition written for the competition. After graduating from Balys Dvarionas Music School in 2007, the vocalist and keyboardist entered the Vilnius College. In 2010, with group Such’a’Trip she garnered first prize at Rebel Rock festival-competition and in 2011 appeared in VOLT international festival (Hungary) with In Albedo.
The musician tried her hand in several instruments, but she considers herself not so much a performer, but rather the mediator of the creative process. “I always prioritized what I play, not what instrument I use. Instrument is only the means facilitating the move of music from inside to outside”, explained Ieva.
Currently, she is a member of Such’a’Trip, Maestro Kinas and In Albedo; takes active part in Lithuania’s musical life.
Guitarist Artūras Ševiakovas studies in pop music program at the Art Department of the Vilnius College. He has appeared in festivals Baltijos Garsas, Bliuzo Naktys and VOLT. Regularly invited to participate in various projects Ševiakovas sees greater importance in work in the studio, search for idiosyncratic sound and improvement.
Drummer and percussionist Viktoras Krasauskas graduated from J. Tallat-Kelpša Conservatoire in 2010 and furthered his education in the Vilnius College. In 2013, he earned first prize in Drum Day competition.
