Paulina Bakšaitė – ss, fl
Lukas Pocius – bs, cl
Antanas Jurkevičius – tp

This trio of unconventional line-up has been in existence for more than a year. The ensemble debuted at last year’s Vilnius Jazz Young Power competition, where it reached the finals. This year, the trio tries their luck with a collective original composition Užvakar (The Day Before Yesterday).

Paulina Bakšaitė, playing soprano saxophone and flute in the project, has a Master’s degree from the LAMT, where she has studied under Prof. Petras Vyšniauskas. As a soloist and a member of various ensembles she has already successfully performed in many competitions, earned the highest marks at Petras Vyšniauskas’ National Saxophone Competition and the competition Džiazo scena organised by Kaunas Jazz festival.

She has performed with various bands at Lithuania’s main jazz festivals. She is also active on the Lithuanian classical music scene, having performed with the St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra, Šiauliai State Choir Polifonija, and Jauna muzika Choir.

Lukas Pocius graduated as classical clarinettist from Klaipėda Stasys Šimkus Conservatoire, and later studied saxophone under Liudas Mockūnas at the Faculty of Arts and Creative Technologies at the University of Applied Sciences.

The performer was also in the final round of the VJYP competition with the group MartisMatisLukisVainius in 2019 – then he played only saxophone, and now he will improvise on baritone saxophone and clarinet as he did last year.

Lukas has been involved in music projects of various genres since his student days. He has played with many of Lithuania’s leading improvisers, including Vladimir Chekasin, Richardas Banys and Pranas Kentra.

Trumpet player Antanas Jurkevičius also graduated from Klaipėda Stasys Šimkus Conservatoire and the Faculty of Arts and Creative Technologies at the University of Applied Sciences. He plays in various bands and has performed with them in the most important jazz venues in Vilnius and Klaipėda, as well as in festivals such as Mėnuo Juodaragis, Loft’fest and others.
