Lithuania Kęstutis Malskis – ts The quartet was formed two years ago by fellow students from different cities of Lithuania studying at Kaunas Vytautas Magnus University (VMU) Music Academy and immediately joined the jazz life in the country. The musicians performed at the Panevėžys International Children’s and Youth Jazz Music Festival-Competition Jazz Fountain, as well as at the Linkuva Jazz, Birštonas Jazz and Kaunas Jazz festivals. For the VJYP competition finals, the group will perform a collaborative composition Oazė (Oasis). Kęstutis Malskis, the leader of the quartet, started his musical studies at music school in Vilkaviškis, later graduated from Kaunas Juozas Gruodis Conservatoire, and is currently seeking his bachelor’s degree at the VMU Music Academy. The saxophonist is combining his duties as a concertmaster of a brass band and a teacher. Keyboardist Deividas Pileckas’ musical path began at the Šiauliai Song Music School. He is also currently completing his bachelor’s studies at the VMU Music Academy, where he is also a concertmaster as he is at the Juozas Gruodis Conservatoire. Bassist Vytautas Kavoliūnas is a graduate of Anykščiai Art School and has been studying at the VMU Music Academy since this year. 207 Collective is his main band. Drummer Julijus Sipavičius graduated from Aleksandras Kačanauskas School of Music and Juozas Gruodis Conservatoire in Kaunas, and is currently completing his bachelor’s degree at the VMU Music Academy. He combines his studies and creative activities with his work as a percussion teacher at the Prienai Art School. |
