Lithuania-Poland-Denmark Antanas Vidra – p, tp
The group was formed a year ago, bringing together musicians who met while studying at the Syddansk Musikkonservatorium in Odense, Denmark. They call their creative space Freesesyjka – a realm of artistic freedom without strict rules, where every sound emerges from spontaneous emotion and the shared mood of the moment. Each of their improvised sessions is a one-of-a-kind experience. In the final of the competition, the group will perform an original composition titled Freesesyjka Live 1 by Antanas Vidra and Józef Biegański. Antanas Vidra, pianist and trumpeter, began expressing himself as an improviser and composer while still studying at the Vilnius Conservatory. He gained recognition at the national contemporary music festival Nauja gaida. Currently, he is continuing his studies at the Syddansk Musikkonservatorium in Odense and performs in various ensembles with fellow students. Filip Ulman, a Polish saxophonist, began his musical journey at music school in Kraków and later at the Academy of Music in Łódź. Now based in Denmark, he is a member of the Polish jazz group Szymon and actively participates in various other musical projects. Benjamin Allentoft, a Danish double bassist, combines his studies at the Syddansk Musikkonservatorium with performing in different ensembles, including Chroma Efti and a quintet led by Lithuanian vocalist Rasa Gorytė. Stachu Banyś, a Polish drummer, started his music education in Poznań and later continued his studies in Denmark. In 2024, he won the Grand Prix at the international Jazz Juniors competition in Kraków with the quintet Blu/Bry, and this year performed at the jazz ahead! fair in Bremen, Germany. Józef Biegański, a Polish drummer and composer, began his musical experience as a child singing in the renowned Poznań Boys’ Choir, with which he toured extensively. He is a laureate of multiple competitions. Currently, he is studying at the conservatory in Odense and is a member of the groups Helicopets and Biegański & Kusz. He also performs as a vocalist and arranger in the ensemble Audiofeels. |
